On a sunny day recently, international students of Wenzhou Medical University paid a visit to the Dongtou District, the place which is known as a county of Wenzhou with a population of about 130,000 people. Local people usually call it "a county of 100 islands". 

The Island boasts beautiful scenery and great hospitality from the people. The excitement in the eyes of the team was tangible as they viewed the beach and town landscape from the bus. 

The Dongtou Experience

The first five days of the summer camp were generally about cross-cultural experiences with Haixia Middle School students through a variety of activities, such as tutorial lessons, health session engagement, etc. 

The international students had the chance to interact with the students in a face-to-face manner, including sports with the students in various sporting activities like basketball, badminton, track, and field. This was an exciting moment for the team and the junior students.

On the last day of the trip, the junior students held an interactive science and CPR class. They were taught about simple physics, chemistry, and biology experiments relevant to daily life engagements.

The students went through CPR training, and at the end of the class, every student took turns in pairs to demonstrate the CPR procedure.

The summer camp established such a platform for students from different cultural backgrounds, bringing Chinese and foreigners together to build great friendships through cultural exchanges. 

The dynamics between the Chinese and international students seem to be majorly positive, with a lot of collaboration and teamwork. There has also been positive feedback from both international and Chinese students who say they are learning well from each other. One student from Wenzhou Medical University said that she was excited to share her knowledge and culture and was eager to learn more about Chinese culture. This summer camp builds hope for the future of developing countries as international students will witness the development of different places in Dongtou, which was part of the revitalization of marine environments.
